A Process you can trust.
Our Mission:
- Get to know you, your unique financial needs, and your concerns.
- Educate you, your spouse, and your children on your financial and retirement options.
- Devote the time necessary so that you understand and are comfortable with all financial decisions.
- Act in a fiduciarily responsible manner so that you receive the best possible advice with attention on minimizing investment fees.
- Review your financial situation periodically after implementation to make sure plans are still optimal.
- Reduce risk. Minimize the possibility of losing money and enable the soundest retirement.
Our three-step process:
Step one: Analyze benefit elective options to make sure you select the best choice.
- Federal Pension: Should I create survivor benefits for spouse and / or children?
- Social Security: When should I take it? Can be between 62 and 70.
- Life Insurance (FGLI) choices: 1) keep present status 2) reduce 3) switch to private life insurance?
- Health Insurance (FEHB) choices: 1) add Medicare (or not) 2) If yes what Medicare coverage should I select, there are many options?
Step two: Understand and resolve ‘income gap’.
With the paycheck gone, many federal employees face an ‘income gap’ between the sum of federal pension annuity plus Social Security, versus your expenses. If that is your case, we will illustrate options designed to close that gap, and produce financial life, after the paycheck stops, similar, or better, than life when you were on salary. *
These ‘gap closers’ include guaranteed income tools, investments, or both. We are uniquely unbiased in outlining your choices and letting you decide.
Step three: Enable investment growth while preserving capital.
With an income gap solution in place, investing your remaining TSP balance — and other investable assets — will have great influence on the level of comfort in your retirement.
The TSP is a low-cost program. Thats good. The TSP is often part of our continuing investment plan. However, the TSP’s investment options are limited and there are limitations on access.
We provide education on modern retirement investment options, not available in the TSP, including:
- Investments with the potential for above market returns and / or less than market risk
- Tactical investments designed as protection against skyrocketing inflation or market downturns
- Diversification of TSP funds into income producing real estate or other real assets
Why settle for ordinary benefits with low retirement income when you can have a state-of-the-art solution and a better outcome?
We recommend a series of 30-to-60-minute online calls over a two-month period.
Here’s what to expect:
Meeting One: We learn about you
We gather your information on income, expenses, and projected retirement date.
Meeting Two: Education on retirement options.
We review your employment retirement elections to maximize your federal benefits. If needed, we will assist you in filling out your federal retirement application. We will present a model of your projected retirement income based on your pension plus Social Security, versus your expenses, and determine if there is an ‘income gap’.
Meeting Three: Initial Implementation
We finalize decisions on required retirement benefit elections. We discuss income gap and, if one exists, present income and investment options to fill the gap.
Meeting Four: Detailed review of long-term investment goals
We finalize decisions, if relevant, on closing your income gap. If there is no gap, we outline investment possibilities outside the TSP.
Meeting Five
We focus on your longer-term goals and intentions – travel, real estate, money for survivors, charity, tax reduction. With an income gap now closed we now know how much discretionary investment capital remains and begin to review investment options.
Meeting six and beyond
We further explore, educate, review, and implement discretionary investment options.
If you decide to retain us for long term investment advisory, we will meet formally twice a year to review performance and update strategies. We are always available for questions by email of phone.
We would be honored to work with you.
